They are doing a charity relief program for hurricane victims. They've had celebrities all night, asking for us to donate money (which you really should if you haven't), so about five minutes ago, out come Mike Myers and Kanye West. Myers gives the standard, written out dialogue that has been prepared for him. West, instead of reading his lines, improvs a speech about how they are portraying black people as the villainous looters and white people as those just struggling to get by, and that they are killing his people. Myers then says another line, and Kanye follows this with:
"George Bush doesn't care about black people"
Myers looks at him like he is insane, and the camera quickly cuts to an unprepared Chris Tucker, who is forced to make up a line about donation, obviously not knowing what is going on.
At first I thought this might be some sick, disgusting skit organized by Myers, but then I simply realized Kanye was doing his own thing.
I'm sure you'll probably hear about this within a couple hours, if not from me.
btw I'm extremely left wing, I just found this to be unbelievable, considering the circumstances of the fundraiser, I mean that'd be like if someone went off on a politician during a fundraiser after 9/11.

I hate it when black people complain. We gave you fucking equality in the 60s. What more do you want? We don't go around saying "We're European American! Woe is us!".
Now...the hurricane is a tragedy. I will donate money and canned foods, for the people that really need it. But don't complain about racial inequality, especially in a time of more important matters.

Well I agree that he was way out of line, but to act like there isn't still a shitload of racism and unfair treatment on both sides is just ignorant. Otherwise when I went to work people wouldn't say shit like "he ran from that place like a black man" or "what kind of a jet black nigger steals from his own store?" (keep in mind in both occasions they were talking about white people.) And the owner refuses to hire black people; the entire store (about 16 people) is white, even though I've seen five black guys apply for jobs. I think we need to make progress, but Kanye was just making it much much worse at the most inoppurtune time possible.

Of course racism still exists. Racism will always exist, everywhere against the world. As fucked up as it is, thats life. We've all been victim of racist comments some point in our life. I'm just saying that in our society and current nation, Kanye West is overexaggerating.

I'm not about to deny that racism exists, I just think that holding up a 65ish year old song as an example is a bit faulty.
Go look up Skrewdriver and their label mates for an example...
