This movie blows. It got it wrong in so many ways that it was painful at times...
More later - I need some sleep.

**************Spoilers***************
It was garbage. The director single-handedly destroyed the series. I can't even figure out where to start with trashing it. Terrible dialogue, no development, bad acting? Ok... the lost powers will obviously come back, no gripe there.
How about leaving it so that it's nearly impossible to script an X-Men 4? Some say they won't try, others suggest that the amount of money they'll make means that they have to try. But, The only way this series can continue is if they are to tie in the whole astral plane idea to an audience who likely won't follow an idea that obviously will not be able to be translated to the screen easily.
To the characters: Cyclops - I'm not a big fan of Marsden anyway, but his role in the upcoming superman film left him with about 2 minutes of time in this movie. Major blow for a major character. And wouldn't the Grey/Storm angle work well in the resurrection of the Phoenix?
Prof X - The strongest actor of the bunch is wiped out after about 5 minutes of movie time. OK - we get the idea that he's still alive, transferring his conscious to Muir island - but - are they really going to take the movie in that direction?
Wolverine - Done well yet again. No major complaints here, other than the focus on Wolverine and Storm means that the screen had no time for anyone else.
Storm - Halle really does not play the role well. Anyway, she bitched and moaned and threatened to pull out unless her role was expanded. Thanks Halle!...
Rogue - By not following the comics approach of having her leech some powers permanently, she is absouletly useless in action. She is a kick ass character in the books. Instead, they make her a whiney little teen angst drama queen. I can't blame this all on X3, this was the direction they scripted her.
Iceman - ok. Why not more?
Colosses - Did he even get 3-4 minutes of time? He was even in X2, you figure they would have made more screen time for him considering the possibilities presented here.
Kitty Pride - She has always been a minor character, didn't mind her role here considering they didn't have any background on her leading into X3. (A brief appearance in X1 mind you)
Nightcrawler - Oh yeah... his absence is explained by the fricken video game!
Phoenix/Jean Grey - Almost forgot about her. Famke Janssen is a good actress, pleasing to look at as well. I liked the lack of costume for Phoenix. Really - this idea was played well, although some explanation as to what happened to those she kills would have been preferred. For those who never followed the comics - the real Jean Grey is still alive and kicking, so she can be brought back fairly easily.
Beast - Done well, especially in the end action sequences. Would have liked to see more of this.
Juggernaut - take away the funny line, he looks eerily like a character who would fit well into the old batman series. Almost comical in appearance and voice. I mean, a fricken somewhat intelligent British man? huh? No connection to his helmet and his powers? Huh?
Did I really see them list Psylocke as one of the minor characters getting killed by Phoenix?
Grrr... it all makes me angry.

Is it just me, or has the actress playing Rogue gotten progressively fuglier as the series has progressed?

Jean looked bad when they made her look bad. When she was in the infirmary with Logan? She looked... yeah...

Agreed, for the most part Famke Janssen was ho-hum.
She's all legs in that infirmary scene though - hot!

Did I mention that Juggernaut isn't even a mutant? Nuff said.
But I digress. Every summer end up going home to visit my parents for most of July and August. I tend to dig up my comic book collections and rehash a series or two a year. Ah... the memories.
